* - Atlanta Braves are paying $10 million of Lowe's $15 million salary for 2012.
**- Colorado Rockies are paying $1.25 million of Slowey's $2.75 million salary for 2012.
*** - Minimum salaries of $480K for 14 players are listed above (13 on ML roster, 1 on ML DL - Carrasco). The players that make the $480K are subject to change based on who makes the roster out of spring training, plus these figures will alter slightly once they sign their 1-year deals this spring and make anywhere between $480-500K based on service time.
General Notes:
- Most of the players with minimum salaries will earn league minimum wages around $480K (or slightly above) depending on their service time.
- Major League service time is through the 2011 season. 172 days of service time is considered 1 major league season. Service time listing shows the years before the decimal point, and the days after. Ex: 2.134 is 2 years and 134 days of service time. Though the season is really 180 days or so long, you cannot accrue anymore than 172 days of service time in a season.
- Free agency, Super 2, and arbitration are all projected as if all players played a full season at the big league level from next year going forward. Obviously, for several players free agency and arbitration will actually be pushed back a year or two as they spend more time in the minors in the coming years.

Thanks for this Tony. Very helpful.
One update needed: Tony Sipps player notes needs altered to reflect the update in the table.
Thanks Ryan....and updated that little bit on Sipp.
Tony,
Just a suggestion, but these payroll tables would be more useful if salaries for those players working at the minimim were quantified for the upcoming season. In other words, now that we know what the minimum salary is (per the new CBA) for 2012, is there anything preventing you from inserting such salary for each applicable player. If that's feasible, then we will have a much better idea what the total payroll for the upcoming season will be.
D-Dawg....I typically don't add in the dollar amount for the min salary guys until they sign their one year deals in spring training. Sort of like how I also dont put in the projected arbitration numbers for the arb eligible guys until they actually sign a deal. But, the difference is minimal with what the min guys sign for and what their base rate of $480K is, so I think it won't be too far off. I will add them in now....thanks for the suggestion.
by the looks of it, i see about 27 million coming off the books next year between hafner, sizemore, lowe and hernandez. obviously, the tribe is aware of this yet they signed no big contract free agents this year (maybe a back loaded contract). makes me think they really didn't like any of the guys out there, at least not for the money they would cost (might have to agree with them on that). i'll be curious to see what they ultimately do with it. they may be looking to trade for a big contract, but that of course would require giving up prospects which is never fun.
Yeah, a lot of payroll flexibility for the team right now. My thinking (hope) is they are leaving room so they can resign the likes of Cabrera, Choo, Masterson, Jimenez, etc. It's time to start keeping some of these guys and not trading them on the eve of free agency.
It will be interesting to see if the Indians are able to sign Carlos Santana long term prior to the 2012 season and buy his arb years assuming he is not Super 2. Under the new CBA he probably will be Super 2 (?).
Also, it will be very interesting to see how the Tribe handles Chisenhall this spring and early 2012. He is also slated to possibly be one of the new Super 2 guys.
Think it went from top 17% to top 22% so it will be close on both Santana and Chisenhall.
I've gotten some interesting information the last few days that pretty much has the Dolan's sending out feelers that they are looking for potential buyers for the franchise/and STO. Wondering if anyone else had heard similar things ? Apparently the new labor deal may have been the straw that broke the camel's back with them.
If what I'm hearing is true, it would explain why this offseason has been handled like it has, with still little commitments beyond just the minimum longterm. This would make the franchise all the more attractive not having these longterm monetary commitments dragging on them. When I look at the salary structure that is establsihed, it really puts the franchise value as probably as favorable as it's been since they bought it from Dick Jacobs.
I'm not sure how flexible Dan Gilbert is right now financially ...but it would be a perfect fit for him to have the Cavs, Indians, Monsters, and the arena football league team, along with STO all under one roof. He could maximize the STO asset, and also streamline operating costs.
Not to mention the casino being right on the middle of all of that ...it just makes too much sense for it not to happen ..if feasible.
But, I've heard this from two very influential souces, that are not even tied with each other. One in Columbus, Ohio, and one that would be in the know holding a good percentage of the loans the Dolan's have out on the Indians.
Here;s an interesting article that you guys should read ...it kinda puts into perspective what is at play here with team valuations based on what's happening with television rights at the center of it all. It halps explain why the Dolan's might be looking to sell now, and why Gilbert would be the one person with the most to gain by owning them..
