Winter League Sunday Round-up

Arizona Fall League

The Surprise Rafters record sits at 5-17, 8 games behind Phoenix Desert Dogs in the AFL National Division. Overall, the Rafters pitching staff is having a nightmare fall season combining for a 8.04ERA.

Player Updates (10/29 - 11/01): -

LHP Chuck Lofgren - Lofgren with another nightmare outing this week on 10/31 allowing 6 runs (4 earned) off 3 hits and 2BB without recording an out. Lofgren now carries a 34.94ERA, .486 OPP AVG and 5.29WHIP in 7 games (5.2IP, 18H, 31R, 22ER, 12BB, 5K).

RHP Erik Stiller - Stiller allowed 2ER in 1.2IP on 10/31 to actually lower his ERA to 14.00 in 7 appearances (9IP, 19H, 21R, 14ER, 4BB, 8K).

RHP Josh Tomlin - Tomlin had a bounce-back outing this week after back-to-back tough outings. Tomlin was back on the mound on 10/30 getting the start for the Rafters and worked 4 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit, a walk and recording 5Ks to lower his overall ERA to 9.00 (14IP, 24H, 17R, 14ER, 3BB, 15K) in 5 appearances (4 starts).

RHP Neil Wagner - Wagner worked 2 innings on 10/30 allowing 1ER to lower his ERA to 6.30 in 7 games (10IP, 10H, 8R, 7ER, 8BB, 3K).

3B Wes Hodges - Hodges continues to mash going 2-for-4 on 10/30 and 2-for-5 with his 5th HR on 10/31 to raise his overall numbers to a very impressive .393(24-for-61)/.413/.721/1.134 with 5 2B, 5HR and a league leading 20RBI in 14 games.

1B Beau Mills - Mills was 0-for-2 on 10/30 and 1-for-5 on 11/01 to lower his overall numbers to .216(8-for-37)/.333/.432/.766 with 2 2B and 2HR in 10 games.

INF Josh Rodriguez - Rodriguez continues to struggle going 1-for-4 on 10/29, 0-for-2 on 10/30 and 0-for-3 on 11/01 to lower his overall line to .136(6-for-44)/.255/.182/.437 in 13 games.

OF Stephen Head - Head, being on the Taxi Squad is only activated on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and he went 1-for-3 with 2BB on 10/29 and 1-for-4 on 11/01 to lower his line to .333(5-for-15)/.500/.400/.900 in 6 games.

Hawaii Winter League

Since the last update, the North Shore Honu have gone 3-1 to run their overall record to 11-15 for the season.

Player Updates (10/29 - 11/01): -

LHP Matt Meyer - Meyer worked 2 scoreless innings on 10/30 to lower his ERA to 6.17 in 11 games (11.2IP, 16H, 11R, 8ER, 7BB, 16K).

LHP Shawn Nottingham - Nottingham continues his resurgence having spun 3 scoreless innings on 11/01 with 3Ks and has now just allowed 1ER over his last 12IP and has lowered his overall ERA to 2.81 in 10 appearances (16IP, 12H, 8R, 5ER, 6BB, 21K).

LHP Heath Taylor - Not appeared since 10/17 due to a finger blister as a result his ERA still holds at 2.19 in 4 games.

C Adam Davis - Davis was 1-for-3 on 10/29 and 0-for-3 on 11/01 to actually raise his line to .111(4-for-36)/.319/.194/.514 in 13 games.

3B Dustin Realini - Realini was 1-for-3 on 10/29 and 0-for-1 with 2BB on 11/01 ro raise his line to .194(6-for-31)/.306/.226/.531 in 10 games.

INF Ron Rivas - Rivas put together a 2-for-4 performance on 10/29 and 1-for-4 on 10/31 and now carries a .290(9-for-31)/.333/.323/.656 line in 10 games.

OF Matt McBride - McBride was 2-for-5 with 2 2B on 10/29, 1-for-3 on 10/30, 1-for-5 on 10/31 and 0-for-4 on 11/01 to lower his line to .276(27-for-98)/.360/.449/.809 with 8 2B, 3HR & 17RBI in 25 games.

LHP Kaimi Mead is still pitching for Holnolulu Sharks and since the last update worked 0.1 of a scoreless inning on 10/30 and also recorded his 2nd save of the Winter season with a scoreless 9th inning on 11/01 against the Honu to lower his overall numbers to a 1.84ERA in 11 games (14.2IP, 9H, 7R, 3ER, 7BB, 13K).
