Indians Get A Player For Byrd

The Indians acquired OF MICKEY HALL from the Boston Red Sox today to complete the trade of August 12th that sent RHP PAUL BYRD to the Red Sox for a PTBNL. The 24-year old Hall spent most of last season at Double-A Portland, where he hit .232 (61-263) with 16 2B, 13HR and 35RBI in 82 games with the Sea Dogs. Hall also spent time with the Single A Lancaster JetHawks where he hit .216 (8-for-37) in 12 games. The Marietta, GA native was a second-round pick by the Red Sox in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft and owns a 6-year minor league career average of .239 (434-1815) in 538
games.

Just noticed he's another Ohio boy, from Garfield Heights originally.

He had a decent 2007, hitting .280 (.392 OBP) with 24 2B, 9 3B, and 11 HR in 106 games, but regressed last season.

Looks to me like we just picked up an organizational player for Byrd who can probably help a weak OF in Akron. Seems about right.
