Today the Indians outrighted left-handed pitcher Mike Gosling, left-handed pitcher Scott Lewis, and infielder Niuman Romero to Triple-A Columbus. The 40-man roster is now at 33 players, though right-handed pitcher Jake Westbrook and right-handed pitcher Anthony Reyes are still not included as they are still on the 60-day disabled list. Both of them will be added at the roster deadline in about three weeks.

Scott Lewis become a free agent or is he on waivers then?
If Lewis has been outrighted to AAA then he has already cleared waivers and remains Indians property.
I'm surprised no one took a shot on Lewis. Do you think Reyes will get the same treatment?
I think Scott had options left?
Yeah, the fact that Lewis was outrighted seems to mean he already cleared waivers (no confirmation on that). Lewis did have options left, but this was about creating space on the 40-man roster.
I am hearing that Reyes is being considered for removal from the 40-man as well. Because of his injury no one is likely to claim him, so he probably clears waivers and the Indians sign him to a minor league deal. Not saying this happens, but there indeed has been discussion about it.
I'm surprised Gimenez wasn't included in that bunch. Are they really going to keep him on the roster? It wouldn't make much sense, when they already have Santana, Marson, Toregas and now McBride at C
While Gimenez is listed as a catcher on the roster, he has no set position. He's a guy who as we know has versatility and some pop in his bat, so there is some value there. Not obviously he was terrible this season, but I do bring up one point and that is he has always often struggled a lot in his first year at a higher level. He's a bubbly guy as far as being removed from the 4-man goes...so we will see!
Why is Ohka still on our 40? Makes no sense. We should be able to pickup a journeyman long relief / spot starter of the FA list every year. I am also wondering if they intend to keep Veras. I am guessing yes.
When do they start adding minor leaguers to the 40?
Ohka, like Jamey Carroll, is still on the roster temporarily. The free agents are not officially removed until (I think) they declare free agency, which comes here in the next week or so. In any case, Ohka and Carroll will be off the roster by the November 20th roster deadline. Veras to me is a 50/50 on staying on the roster....they love his stuff that's for sure, but can this guy ever be effective? And the minor leaguers will likely be added on the deadline date like they were last year and have been for the most part in the past.
