Around the Farm: January 12

Eric Berger
Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Caribbean Leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Here is the rundown of what Indians players in winter ball did yesterday.

Australian Baseball League
  • Andrew Campbell (LF, Brisbane Bandits): 0-for-3, K. With his 0-fer at the plate Campbell’s modest 11-game hitting streak came to an end. He has had a solid showing the ABL hitting .270 with a .735 OPS, and has 10 walks to only 9 strikeouts in 63 at bats.
  • Mitch Nilsson (C, Brisbane Bandits): 1-for-3, R, 2B, K. Nilsson has not hit well in the ABL as he is only hitting .200 in 45 at bats, but 4 of his 9 hits have gone for extra bases and he has 7 walks so he is showing some power and patience at the plate.
Dominican Republic Winter League
  • Eric Berger (RP, Gigantes del Cibao): 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Berger was the vulture last night as he got a win in relief. He has also now faced 8 batters and allowed just 1 batter to reach base in 3 games in the DWL with 2.2 shutout innings of relief.
Venezuela Winter League
  • Jose Lopez (3B, Caribes de Anzoategui): 1-for-5, 3 RBI. Lopez only managed one hit, but he made the most of it and had a productive day with an RBI groundout in the 1st inning and a two-run RBI single in the 5th inning.
