Gardner Named Carolina League Player of the Week

Kinston's Joe Gardner is the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week. Gardner picked up a win on Wednesday when he pitched six innings of one hit ball against the Salem Red Sox. Gardner struck out eight during the outing.

Just called up from Low A Lake County on May 8, Gardner is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. The UC Santa Barbra product has not given up an earned run in three starts this season, striking out 17 in 16 2/3 innings of work. The California native is the first K-Triber to win a Carolina League weekly award this season. Gardner will get the start tonight for Kinston at Potomac.
