Around the Farm: November 7

Chad Huffman
Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) and the Caribbean Leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Here is the rundown of what Indians players in fall and winter ball did yesterday. Note, the Puerto Rican Winter League and Venezuelan Winter League both were scheduled off on Monday, and in the Dominican Winter League no Indians’ players played.

Arizona Fall League
  • Chad Huffman (1B): 1-for-4, R, 2B, BB, K. Huffman has struggled to find holes or display his extra base hit ability, but the one encouraging thing about him this fall is his 10 walks and 11 strikeouts. His walk-rate and strikeout-rate are much improved from the regular season.
  • Tyler Sturdevant (RP): 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K. Talk about taking it to the limit. Sturdevant threw 29 pitches and just 16 strikes in his one inning of work and gave up 1 hit and 2 walks, but thanks to 3 strikeouts he escaped the inning unscathed.
  • Cory Burns (RP): 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Burns gets his first AFL save and has now strung together 5.0 shutout innings covering 4 outings.
