Jared Goedert-3B, Columbus: 4-6, HR (18), 3B, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 R, K
Goedert managed to hit for the cycle...sort of. The 4-6 effort took place over both games of the doubleheader last night, but that's an impressive stat line no matter how you look at it. His triple was the only hit that the rehabbing Jordan Zimmerman gave up in his 4 innings of work against Columbus. Goedert has cooled down considerably after his torrid June, and yesterday's HR was his first since July 27. Regardless, Goedert is hitting .291/.372/.621 for the Clippers, and has 18 HR in 227 AAA at-bats.
Corey Kluber-SP, Akron: 4 IP, 11 H, 6 ER, 5 K, BB
After giving up 4 ER in 4 IP in his first Eastern League start, Kluber followed up with another rough outing. He had more strikeouts and fewer walks in yesterday's start, but still allowed 12 baserunners in his 4 innings of work. Kluber was the Texas League pitcher of the week as recently as July 26, so expect him to settle down and be more consistent in the Eastern League after a little bit of an adjustment period.
Giovanni Soto-SP, Lake County: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 9 K, BB
Soto has been outstanding since coming over from Detroit in the Jhonny Peralta trade, and last night was no different. He set a new personal Lake County best with 9 strikeouts, and retired the first 13 batters he faced. Other than a solo HR and two-out RBI single by Ramon Castillo, Soto completely dominated the Silver Hawks. Soto is just 19 years old, and the lefty has 20 strikeouts in 18 IP for the Captains, to go along with a sparkling ERA of 2.00. He's allowed just 12 baserunners in those 18 innings of work for Lake County.
Jason Knapp-SP, AZL Indians: 2 1/3 IP, 2 H, 3 R (2 ER), 3 K, 2 BB
The first sign of weakness for the big righthander. Knapp still has 14 K and allowed just 3 BB in 8 1/3 innings down in Arizona. Knapp had some bad luck yesterday, giving up an earned run after he balked a runner to 2nd, and then an unearned run after an error. The important thing is that Knapp is back on the mound and pitching to live batters without pain.

- Yohan Pino-SP, Columbus: 6 IP, ER, 4 K, BB. Hard-luck loser's only blemish was solo HR in the 3rd.
- Jeremy Sowers-SP, Columbus: 3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, K. ERA up to 5.35. Tough to see him as a starter anymore long-term.
- Bryce Stowell-RP, Columbus: IP, 2 K. Breakout continues, as Stowell is now up to 21 K in 14 IP for Columbus.
- Vinnie Pestano-RP, Columbus: S (10), IP, 2 K. Pestano threw a clean frame for his 10th save since joining the Clippers. Over his last 10 appearances, Pestano has given up 2 ER in 11 IP and struck out 16. He has 49 K in his 37 1/3 AAA innings.
- Jerad Head-OF, Columbus: 2-3, HR (2), 2B, 2 RBI, R, K. Head didn't start against Zimmerman, but made the most out of his opportunities in the other game with a HR and a double. Three of his last four games have been multi-hit efforts.
- Wes Hodges-1B, Columbus: 3-7, 2B, RBI. Hodges is 5-19 since rejoining the Clippers.
- Nick Hagadone-RP, Akron: 2 IP, 3 H, ER, 4 K, BB. Good to see a 4/1 K/BB ratio. Bad to see 3 hits and an earned run. Hagadone has given up an earned run in 3 of his 5 appearances since being moved to the bullpen, with 10 strikeouts and 8 walks in 10 1/3 IP.
- Rob Bryson-RP, Akron: IP, H, 2 K, BB. Two baserunners, but when you have swing and miss stuff like Bryson, its easy to strand guys on the bases.
- Joe Gardner-SP, Kinston: 7 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 4 K, BB. Settled down after giving up 3 runs in the 1st inning to turn in a quality start.
- Kyle Bellows-3B, Kinston: 3-5, RBI, R. Bellows is 7-18 over his modest little 4-game hitting streak.
- Jeremie Tice-1B, Kinston: 2-5, RBI. Tice is hitting .291/.324/.451 in 26 games since getting the call to Kinston.
- Takafumi Nakamura-RP, Mahoning Valley: S (1), 4 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 6 K, BB. The tall, lanky righty out of Tokyo earned his first career save last night with four effective innings of work.
- Giovanny Urshela-3B, Mahoning Valley: 1-4, 2 RBI. The best prospect on the Mahoning Valley roster, Urshela now has hits in 9 straight.
- Jon Burnette-OF, Mahoning Valley: 2-5, HR (8), 2B, 3 RBI, R, K. Burnette is hitting .333 with 4 HR and 8 RBI over his last 10 games.
