Carrasco Returns Tonight, McFarland Promoted

Right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco is starting tonight for Triple-A Columbus. He had been sidelined with a right forearm issue where he had to come out of his last two outings because of a cramping-like feeling in the arm. As a preventative measure, the Indians gave him over a week off since his last start by skipping his scheduled start last weekend.

Left-handed pitcher T.J. McFarland has been promoted from High-A Kinston to Double-A Akron. He will make his Double-A debut at 7:05 p.m. tonight against the New Britain Rock Cats. The 21-year-old concludes his stint in the Carolina League as the sole league-leader with 10 wins and was 10-3 with a 2.81 ERA in 20 games (15 starts). He was the K-Tribe's lone mid-season All-Star and began the year in a piggyback role for current Akron reliever Nick Hagadone before transitioning back to starting. He ranked second on the Kinston team with 109.0 innings pitched and was third with his 74 strikeouts. Cleveland selected McFarland in the fourth round of the June 2007 Draft out of Amos Alonso Stagg High School (IL) and he posted a 9-4 record with a 3.58 ERA in 25 games (23 starts) for Class A Lake County in 2009. He will be making his Double-A debut tonight.
