Berger Promoted, Lewis Begins Rehab

High-A Kinston left-hander Eric Berger was promoted yesterday to Double-A Akron. He will move into the rotation, though no word on who he will displace in the rotation. Left-hander Ryan Edell is the logical choice to be promoted, though there is a possibility they go the route like they did with Michael Tejera a few weeks ago and instead promote left-hander Bobby Livingston.

Left-hander Scott Lewis is on the comeback trail again, and will be making first rehab start tonight for the rookie-level Arizona League Indians out in Goodyear, AZ. He is on a return to throw program and if he has no injury setbacks could be back in Cleveland by the time rosters expand in September. He'll likely make stops in Akron and Columbus before that.

High-A Kinston right-hander Alexander Perez has shoulder soreness and is not expected to miss his next start.

Also, in the coming three days, starting tomorrow I will have a massive Minor Happenings update with three reports on three consecutive days. I'm all caught up with the news and notes, and since there was no Minor Happenings last week, there is a ton to get caught up on.

Well deserved for Berger, he'll be a nice arm for their playoff push.

Any chance Chisenhall sees Akron to get acquainted for the playoffs like Santana did last season? He doesn't have much left to prove on that team.
