Triple-A first baseman/outfielder Jordan Brown has been put on the disabled list today (shoulder). Taking his spot on the Columbus roster is infielder Jesus Merchan who was called up from Double-A Akron today. As noted earlier, third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall has been promoted from High-A Kinston and will take Merchan's roster spot in Akron.

Crappy timing for Brown to get hurt.... he could've been in line for a Spet call up had he kept on hitting and with the Indians having some room on the 40-man..... could this injury perhaps doom him to another year being exposed to Rule 5?!?!
That said, from a personal POV perhaps being Rule 5 eligable wouldn't be seen as a bad thing for Brown.
How long is he out?
The severity of the injury and the length of time he will be on the DL is still unknown. He is still being evaluated, but the retroed the DL assignment by 2 days (eff 8/6) so he can come off in 5 days if need be. Really won't know until next Wed night or Thurs morning.
