Pavano Traded, Perez Recalled

Today the Indians traded right-handed pitcher Carl Pavano to Minnesota in exchange for a player to be named later. The Indians will receive this player on or before September 1st. Left-hander Rafael Perez was recalled from Columbus to take Pavano’s spot on the 25-man roster. Right-hander Justin Masterson is expected to fill the vacant rotation spot.

Sounds good to me. Can't imagine the player will be anything more than minor league depth. Just another way to dump a bit more salary.

Yeah, if I am not mistaken, the Indians can also instead opt for cash instead of the PTBNL. If this is the case, I think they surely take the cash given the financial state of the team.

Pavano last pitched the same day Rondon last pitched, August 2nd. They were both scheduled to start tomorrow. Carrasco started last night. He can't pitch tomorrow.

I updated the post shortly after I posted it to mention Masterson will go to the rotation.
