Jordan Brown On The Move?

Not saying this is anything, but it could be something.

Triple-A Columbus first baseman/outfielder Jordan Brown is not playing today. On top of that, outfielder Mickey Hall was promoted from Akron to Columbus earlier today and is playing for Columbus in their game this afternoon.

This could simply just be a day of rest for Brown since he has not had an off day in forever, it could be an unknown injury, it could be a trade, it could be he is on his way to Cleveland to join the big league club.....or it could be completely nothing. I am just making note of it though only because of the addition of a player (an outfielder no less) and no one being subtracted (yet) from the Columbus roster, which is sort of fishy. For those wondering, Matt LaPorta is playing first base today.

Edit: Nevermind. Brown had some discomfort in his shoulder as a result of a minor twinge in batting practice so he was sidelined for the game today temporarily.

Can't imagine where Brown possibly fits in with the Tribe right now unless they're planning on using Gimenez all over the diamond and Crowe as a 4th-OF.

My hope is that they're shutting Grady down, doing the surgery if necessary, and getting him ready for next year. Not only is it a good move for his health, it would allow the Indians to look at players like Brown who they need to make a decision on before the November Rule 5 Draft rolls around

Nevermind. It is a precautionary move to sit him today as he hurt his shoulder a little in BP this morning. Expected to be ok.

I'm glad you posted this anyway, Tony. It's need-to-know, and we do!

I get the feeling that management wants to keep the roster fairly stable 'til September comes.

Might as well showcase the guys they might want to move (ie Carroll, Pavano, Shoppach, others?), and evaluate the rest.

If we're in rebuild mode, might as well get after it.
