McBride Wins Award

For the third week in a row the Kinston Indians claim the Carolina League Player of the Week as K-Tribe first baseman Matt McBride takes the honors. The K-Tribe has now garnered five of the first six Carolina League Weekly Awards with outfielder Matt Brown and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall taking home the hardware in weeks one and two, along with Pitchers of the Week Kelvin De La Cruz and Eric Berger.

McBride’s monster week included hitting .464 (13-28), with two home runs, nine RBI, seven runs scored and a .700 slugging percentage. McBride’s award caps off an unbelievable start as Matt is currently hitting .404 this season, the second best batting average in the Carolina League and riding a 17 game hit streak, the second longest in the CL this season. McBride leads the Carolina League in seven different offensive categories including RBI with 28, hits (40), doubles (11), extra base hits (16), slugging percentage (.667), total bases (55) and runs scored (18). He is second in the Carolina League in home runs (5) and on-base percentage (.454). He is third in all of Minor League Baseball with 28 RBI.
