Roster Updates

RHP Masa Kobayashi has accepted his assignment down to Columbus. In turn, LHP David Huff was added to the 25-man roster. He will make the start against Tampa this afternoon.

Also, LHP Tony Sipp was outrighted to Columbus. In turn, RHP Greg Aquino has been added to the 25-man roster.

To make room for Aquino on the 40-man roster, Scott Lewis has been transferred from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL.

Who will replace Huff in the Columbus rotation? Will they move Herrmann or Jackson out of the bullpen?

Also, the Columbus website says that they have 25 active players, in addition to Hafner...is this possible? Thanks!

They have 25 active men on their roster. Travis Hafner on rehab does not count against their roster number since he is on rehab assignment.

Also, I believe Jackson will be starting, to my knowledge. However, I'm not 100% sure and wait for Tony's answer on that.

I thought, however, that the Columbus roster could only be 24 men deep, because AAA and AA have one less player than the Major Leagues. Does this mean they have too many players? Thanks for the info on Jackson!

Although not a great resource to use, thus far is the only site that I've found this info, per Wikipedia:

"Typically 25 players comprise the active roster of a Minor League Baseball team."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_League_Baseball_rosters

Sowers is the one taking Huffs spot in the Columbus rotation.

Sowers is already counted as a starting pitcher in that tally. Sowers, Cassel, Ohka, Saarloos, ? .. again, my source has told me Jackson. They could be wrong, though.

Jackson has been in the rotation since Sowers was called up to Cleveland..... he's already made 3 starts in the 3 turns through the rotation between Sowers going up to Cleveland and then heading back to AAA.

The rotation was Huff, Jackson, Saarloos, Cassel and Ohka..... Huff up, Sowers down.... Sowers takes Huffs place.

Sorry I was not able to comment earlier. Columbus rotation is Sowers, Cassel, Ohka, Jackson and Saarloos.

Also, max active rosters for AAA and AA is 24 players. You can go above that for players on major league rehab assignments (they don't count on roster).
