Around the Farm: November 11

Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Thursday November 11th:
  • Cord Phelps - 3B, Peoria Javelinas: 2-for-4, RBI, 2 BB. Phelps with two more hits, two more walks, and on base a total of four times in five trips to the plate. He has gone out to the AFL to work on playing 3B and is showing some improvement, but boy has he been a hitting and on-base machine with a line of .365/.487/.508.
  • Matt McBride - 1B, Gigantes del Cibao: 1-for-5, R, K. The streaky McBride is now following up a recent short hot burst with what looks like the start of a cole streak as in his last three games he is just 2-for-14 at the plate.
  • Lucas Montero - LF, Gigantes del Cibao: 1-for-4, R, RBI, SB. Montero was back in the starting lineup getting a chance to play again and responded by manufacturing a run almost on his own by singling, stealing second, and then scoring on an infield hit to the catcher.
  • Luke Carlin - C, Aguilas Cibaenas: 0-for-0. Carlin came into the game as a late inning defensive replacement and did not record an official plate appearance.
  • Jerad Head - 1B-LF, Gigantes de Carolina: 3-for-6, R, 3B, RBI. Head continues to put up a solid showing out in Puerto Rico where in 15 games he is hitting .286/.388/.500 with 12 RBI.
  • Miguel Perez - C, Tigres de Aragua: 0-for-0. No official plate appearance for Perez as he was a late game defensive substitution.
  • Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 1-for-4, RBI, BB, 2 K. Has now hit in three straight games, though still just 3-for-34 in his last 10 games and hitting .187/.315/.253 in 22 games.
