Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Saturday November 13th:
- Jason Kipnis - 2B, Peoria Javelinas: 4-for-4, R, 3 2B, 3 RBI. Kipnis is ending his AFL campaign on fire. He now has four multi-hit games in a row, and multi-hit games in five of his last six games. He now has an amazing 15 of his 19 hits going for extra bases for a .623 slugging percentage.
- Cord Phelps - 3B, Peoria Javelinas: 0-for-4, BB, K, CS, PO. 0-fer ends 9-game hitting streak and 4-game multi-hit strea. He did walk and has now been on base via a walk or hit in all but one of his 16 AFL games.
- Adam Abraham - C, Peoria Javelinas: 0-for-3, BB, K, E. Abraham with a chance to get some action in the field for the first time in awhile and it showed with an error. Just 3-for-18 in his last 5 games.
- Travis Turek - RP, Peoria Javelinas: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Turek has had few opportunities in the AFL being on the taxi squad and has pitched in just 6 games and has 6.2 IP. He threw 16 of 27 pitches for strikes.
- Matt McBride - 1B, Gigantes del Cibao: 0-for-4. A rare quiet night for Mcbride. Still hitting an impressive .288/.366/.548 in 19 games out in the Dominican Republic.
- Lucas Montero - LF, Gigantes del Cibao: 1-for-4, RBI. Even though he has started 7 of the last 9 games, Montero is not making the most of it as he is just 4-for-24 in his last 8 games.
- Jerad Head - DH, Gigantes de Carolina: 0-for-4, 2 BB. Now five 0-fers in the last nine games for Head. After a hot start, average and numbers continue to plummet.
- Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 2-for-3, 2B, RBI, BB. Valbuena with a multi-hit effort, but still struggling to get above the mendoza line. Now just 5-for-34 in his last five games.
- Nick Weglarz - LF, Leones del Caracas: 1-for-4, 2 K, 3 BB. Weglarz's second game in action out in the Venezuelan Winter League, and he has started to get more game action in the field. Has reached base in both games so far going 2-for-7 with an RBI and walk.
- Karexon Sanchez - 3B, Leones del Caracas: 0-for-2, 2 K, DP. Sanchez got a chance to play in just his second game out in Venezuela. He will likely rotate between all the infiend position.
- Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Navegantes del Magallanes: 2-for-4, 2 RBI, BB. Carrera has been a model of consistency out in the Venezuelan Winter League. He's done a good job hitting and making contact, but he has proven to lack much punch at the plate with just 6 extra base hits in 96 at bats.
