Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Monday November 8th:
- Jerad Head - 1B, Gigantes de Carolina: 2-for-4, R, HR, 3 RBI. Head conntinues to produce where in 12 games out in Puerto Rico he is hitting .302/.404/.535. He celebrates his 28th birthday next week, so who knows, maybe he is a late-bloomer.
- Cord Phelps - 3B, Peoria Javelinas: 2-for-5, 2 R, RBI, BB. Phelps now has a modest 7-game hitting streak and has gone 13-for-29 (.448) during that stretch. He played a clean game defensively at 3B, and looks like he may be getting more comfortable there.
- Jason Kipnis - DH, Peoria Javelinas: 2-for-4, 2 R, 2 3B, BB. Slowly but surely things may be turning around for Kipnis as he has two multi-hit games in his last three games. Also, an amazing 9 of his 11 hits have gone for extra bases.
- Bryan Price - RP, Peoria Javelinas: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. After a six day layoff, Price responded with his best outing in 7 appearances out in the AFL. In total he threw 14 pitches, 9 for strikes.
- Matt McBride - RF-1B, Gigantes del Cibao: 1-for-3, BB. No homer for the second straight game, but McBride plays some small ball with a single and walk to get on base twice in four trips.
- Lucas Montero - LF, Gigantes del Cibao: 0-for-3, BB. Montero gets yet another chance to start. Whether it is because of injury or if the regular outfielder has left the team, it is to his benefit as he is a free agent and is trying to drum up a market for him this offseason.
