Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Sunday November 14th:
- Josh Judy - RP, Aguilas Cibaenas: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. Judy racked up his 4th save for his Aguilas team out in the Dominican Republic. In 9 appearances covering 9.0 innings he has still not yielded a walk (10 H, 6 K).
- Matt McBride - RF-1B, Gigantes del Cibao: 3-for-4, 3 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI, BB. McBride has been impressive with the power display out in the Dominican Republic as he now has 7 HR and is hitting .312/.391/.636 in 20 games. May be more of a 40-man roster option than we think.
- Lucas Montero - LF, Gigantes del Cibao: 2-for-4, R, 2B, 2 K. Yet another start for Montero who has started 8 of the last 10 games. As a minor league free agent he is playing for a contract to try and latch on with someone at Double-A or Triple-A next year.
- Jerad Head - 1B, Gigantes de Carolina: 1-for-3, 2 R, 2B. Head is hitting a very good .270/.390/.476 in 17 games, but in his last 10 games is hitting .229/.364/.429.
- Giovanni Soto - RP, Gigantes de Carolina: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K. His debut with the Gigantes team after playing for San Juan team to start the Puerto Rico Winter League season a few weeks ago. No idea what prompted the team chance.
- Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 0-for-4. I don't know what is more exciting, checking the box scores to see how many hits Cord Phelps gets and if Matt McBride hit another home run, or to see if Valbuena took another collar at the plate. This has to be one of the worst seasons ever for a player.
- Karexon Sanchez - 2B, Leones del Caracas: 0-for-2, K. Sanchez did not get the start and was a mid-game replacement at second base. Still looking for his first start and hit.
- Nick Weglarz - DH, Leones del Caracas: 0-for-2, R, RBI, 2 BB. Now three games played in Venezuela for Weglarz, and a lot of the same from the season with three walks and a .462 on-base%, though the power hasn't shown itself yet.
- Juan Apodaca - C, Aguilas del Zulia: 2-for-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K. Apodaca doesn't get to play much since he is the backup. In his first game action in five days he responded with a multi-hit game.
- Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Navegantes del Magallanes: 1-for-4, RBI, BB. Carrera's recent struggles continue and in his last 10 games he is now hitting just .211 with a .558 OPS.
