Mid-Day Update

The Aeros announced three roster moves today, placing OF Trevor Crowe on the disabled list, activating OF Matt LaPorta from Milwaukee, and activating LHP Chuck Lofgren from the inactive list. Crowe was put on the disabled list with a strained left intercostal muscle (retroactive to July 2nd).

In Buffalo, they are going with one less pitcher in the bullpen for the next week as they await to see if former closer Rick Bauer clears waivers. Bauer was designated for assignment by the Indians Friday, and if he clears waivers he most likely will return to Buffalo and resume his closing duties.

RHP Rob Bryson, who is one of the players received in the Matt LaPorta trade, has been assigned to Lake County.

Aeros outfielder Trevor Crowe took home Eastern League Player of the Month honors Monday for his outstanding performance in June. Crowe hit .400 (42-105) in June to lead the Eastern League, and his 24 RBI tied for the most in the league with teammate Bronson Sardinha. Crowe also pounded four home runs and stole five bases.

I'm on my way to Akron.....more updates late tonight or even during the game as I watch LaPorta and maybe chime in on what he said in his press conference.

I'll bet those EL pitchers are really going to be happy to see LaPorta in the middle of an Akron Lineup that is already the league's most potent. For that matter, I cannot imagine Sally League batters will be that happy to have Bryson on Lake County's staff either.

I happen to think Brad Mills is having a fine year in spite of all the criticism pointed at him as a "terrible" draft choice. Do you think he will join LaPorta at Akron soon? It also seems to me that Mills is easily athletic enough to play the OF. True?

Who's gonna get bumped from the Akron rotation to make room for Lofgren?

TL,

I made it to Akron, only for it to be rained out. Two for the price of one tomorrow night! Any chance Lofgren starts game two tomorrow?

Mills may play all year in Kinston. I don't see a spot opening up for him in Akron except maybe late in the year if Kinston misses the playoffs.

Also, Lofgren is going to be pitching out of the bullpen initially.
