No changes to the big league roster to report, but here are some moves much lower in the system to catch up on some of the recent movement:
Third baseman Jeremie Tice has been reinstated from the 7-day DL and placed on a rehab assignment with the AZL Indians. Infielder Jesus Merchan has been placed on a rehab assignment with the AZL Indians as well. Right-hander Francisco Valera has been transferred to Lake County from the AZL Indians.

why are there no moves? its time to start shaking things up. there is no excuse for standing pat. Any word on marte or laporta call ups?
Agreed it is puzzling and frustrating. Still thinking this has something to do with the looking trade deadline and once it passes or they make a few trades here in the next few days, we finally see some movement. Really only expect Marte, LaPorta, Sowers and Carmona though to be added prior to Sept 1.
I know this isn't exactly prospect-related, but what about Westbrook? Will he be called up, as well?
Pretty disappointed Brown & Brantley won't be getting an opportunity. Of course calling them up would officially scorch the Earth in Columbus.
Yeah, Westbrook should be back maybe in August, forgot about him. Though was thinking just of minor league guys.
No room right now to play Brown and Brantley as the roster is currently configured. At least not as everyday guys. If LaPorta and Marte are brought up they play everyday at 3B and LF. With Sizemore in CF and Choo in RF, there is no room for Brantley if LaPorta is in LF. Brown might be able to get up there if Garko is dealt or even Shoppach where Victor goes to more full time catching duties. But if LaPorta goes to 1B then Brown has no shot, and then maybe Brantley goes up. I think Brown has the better chance to come up now though than Brantley based on performance.
How will Marte get to play everyday? Also, when Shapiro was asked his thoughts on his trip to Columbus he didn't even mention Marte. I think trading him at this point would be a huge mistake.
Do you still think that the Winston Abreu deal was a precursor to another deal?
Abreu deal I misread somewhat. Felt he was part of something else, when in fact he was just a small piece to a larger puzzle of moves they were getting ready to make. Still don't understand the need to dump Meloan for him even today....but bottom line his value with the Indians and around the league was not as high as thought. They apparently just choose to cut ties, especially when they knew they would be acquring so many arms.
