Betancourt traded

RHP Rafael Betancourt has been traded to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Class A RHP Connor Graham.

Graham is 23-year-old pitcher who's a native of Bowling Green and a Miami of Ohio alum, who possesses a big 6'7", 235 lbs. body. He is 7-4 with a 3.14 ERA, 87 strikeouts and 41 walks in 80 1/3 innings pitched (16 starts). His ERA is the sixth-best in the league, and he's limited the opposition to a .225 average against, with just two homers allowed. He is 3-0 with a 0.59 ERA over his last three starts.

Following the '08 season, Baseball America named him the 12th-best prospect in the Rockies' organization.

Hmmm, seems like a pretty solid move to me.

One red flag, why's a 24 year old with those kind of stats still in A-ball?

He is 23 right now, actually...will be 24 at the end of the year. (Dec. 30th) He throws a 92-95 MPH heater and has a hard slider that has plus-pitch potential. Working on a 3rd pitch, and overall command, especially of the slider. Has talent, though.

Seems we have gotten some great arms with varying issues of command difficulty!

Dave:

Yep, same goes for our first round selection, Alex White. Great stuff, but shaky command.

and don't forget Perez, whom we received from the Cards, and a decent chance that the PTBNL will be similar!

Speaking of...any news on the PTBNL?? Rumors? Innuendo? anything?

Man, I hope it's Jess Todd. Original rumors were Samuel and Todd, plus I'm sure a few other names are sprinkled about.

According to Mr. Castrovince, Graham will head to AA Akron.

No news on the PTBNL front. Decision will probably be made later in the season closer to the deadline set.
