In Other Games...
- Buffalo did not have a game scheduled.
- Lake County's game was postponed because of wet grounds, and makes it like the millionth rainout of the season for them.
- The GCL Indians won 6-5. RHP Danny Salazar continues to make his statement as one of the next young Latin pitching prospects to watch as he went 6 innings and allowed 1 run on 5 hits, 1 walk and had 4 strikeouts. 3B Abner Abreu is an elite talent in the making and could be the #1 prospect in the system by the end of next season. Abreu hit his 10th HR and went 1-for-6 at the plate with 2 RBI. OF Bo Greenwell went 2-for-5 with a 3B.

Salazar is definately one to watch next year along with Alex Perez.
Both guys have had one clunker of a start which has skewed there numbers some what.
But, Salazar especially has been very impressive - he's made 9 starts and allowed 1ER or fewer in 7 of them.... if not for his 6ER in 2.1IP at the beginning of July his numbers would be amazing.
tl,
been looking at abreu for a couple of weeks. what in your opinion is his ml comp? is it jhonny peralta or possibily even a higher upside?
Darren, I agree on Salazar. And, Alexander Perez is the next big prospect in the system primed for a breakout like a De La Cruz. Org flat out loves him. You'll see in my GCL writeup which will post later today.
John, Abreu's major league comp is way higher than Peralta. I'm serious. Have heard "Soriano" as a common refernece to him because of his lanky build but increible bat speed and strength in his hands. I have some comments from GCL manager Rouglas Odor on him which will post today.....and from Ross Atkins which will post tomorrow. He's an elite prospect in the making.
The most interesting thing looking at Perez on paper is that he is listed at 6'2" and 156lb..... 156???? No wonder he's having so much success; standing side on he's probably difficult to see! haha
