Around the Farm: August 2

Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player played in yesterday's game.

Light day yesterday as the Clippers and Aeros were off, and Kinston was rained out in the 3rd. Even the DSL Indians had their game suspended in the 4th inning. So it will be a short update today, and hopefully we'll have some better news for tomorrow.

  • Clayton Cook-SP, Lake County: 6 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 6 K, BB. Cook celebrated his 20th birthday just over a week ago, and turned in his 3rd straight quality start last night. His K rate is down from last year, but he's having success in a full season league at an age where a lot of players are still in short season or complex leagues.
  • Delvi Cid-OF, Lake County: 2-5, 2B, 3 RBI, SB, K. Cid stole his 54th base of the season last night, and has been caught stealing just 11 times. He has hits in 6 of his last 7 games.
  • Greg Folgia-OF, Lake County: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, R, K. Hits in 8 straight, and batting an even .500 over that span.
  • Roberto Perez-C, Lake County: 2-5, R. Patient backstop (.367 OBP) has his 1st multi-hit game in his last 10 starts.
  • Giovanny Urshela-3B, Mahoning Valley: 2-4, HR (2), 2 RBI, R, CS. HR in 2 of his last 3 games, hitting .314 over his last 10.
  • Jesus Aguilar-1B, Mahoning Valley: 2-4, 2B. Hits in both of his NYP games after being moved up from the AZL.
  • Ramon Cespedes-RP, AZL Indians: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 3 K. Reliever has a 0.39 ERA, 28 K's and just 3 BB in 23 IP.
  • Kyle Petter-RP, AZL Indians: IP, 2 K. One of the few 2010 draft picks actually playing right now, Petter was a 34th round pick out of El Camino College. The lefty has 14 K's in 12 1/3 IP and a 2.19 ERA for the AZL Indians.
  • Juan Aponte-1B, AZL Indians: 2-4, K. Average in AZL now over .400, one of few bright spots in a 7-0 loss for the AZL Tribe.
