Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Friday October 22nd:
- Cord Phelps - 3B, Peoria Javelinas: 0-for-4. The first 0-fer for Phelps in his brief time in the AFL. Still hitting .294/.400/.412.
- Roberto Perez - C, Peoria Javelinas: 0-for-2, RBI, BB. Struggles on offense are to be expected, but still more than holding his own defensively.
- Bryan Price - RP, Peoria Javelinas: 1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R/ER, 0 BB, 0 K. Another rough outing for Price who has now allowed 6 runs (5 earned), 9 hits, and 3 walks in just 3.2 innings pitched.
- Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Navegantes del Magellanes: 2-for-5, 2 R, 2B, RBI. Another good game for Carrera who is now hitting .303/.343/.424 in 8 games in Venezuela.
- Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 1-for-2, R, RBI, 2 BB, K. Stop the presses. Valbuena is finally over the Mendoza line for the first time in what seems forvever. Is hitting .214/.371/.250 in 9 games in Venezuela, and has an impressive 7 walks to just 3 strikeouts.
- Jared Goedert - 1B, Leones del Caracas: 1-for-2, R, 2B, RBI, BB. More action for Goedert at first base, and it will be interesting to see if he starts getting more time there and in left field. This should give a pretty good idea as to what the Indians' plans are for him going forward.
