Around the Farm: October 26

Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Tuesday October 26th:
  • Bryan Price - RP, Peoria Javelinas: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 3 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 0 K. Once again Price struggled as he walked the leadoff batter in the 8th and then the next batter reached on an error by Price which setup the rest of the disasterous inning. He has now made four appearances and has allowed at least one run in all four of them.
  • Cord Phelps - 3B, Peoria Javelinas: 0-for-3, 2 BB, K, CS. Phelps took an 0-fer and grounded into a double play, but still managed to reach base two out of five times he was up. His only defensive opportunity at third base all night was a foul pop in the second inning.
  • Eric Berger - RP, Peoria Javelinas: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 0 K. A clean outing for Berger as he recorded outs on all four hitters he faced.
  • Jose Constanza - CF, Toros del Este: 3-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K. Constanza just keeps hitting. After a very good year at Triple-A for the Indians he is off to a quick start in winter ball hitting .444 (8-for-18) in 4 games. His performance at both Columbus and now the winter leagues will probably all but cement his departure as a free agent.
  • Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Navegantes del Magallanes: 3-for-4, 2 R, BB. The acquisition of Carrera back in June pretty much doomed any chance Jose Constanza had of sticking in the organization as a big league 4th outfielder. Carerra will now fill that role, and is rated better across the board in almost every category than Constanza.
  • Luis Valbuena - SS, Cardenales de Lara: 2-for-5, RBI, K. Trying to salavage a quickly fading big league career. Has hit in five straight games and is 7-for-18 at the plate in those games.
  • Juan Apodaca - C, Aguilas del Zuila: 0-for-0, BB. Came off the benchg as a late substitution in the game.
  • Matt McBride - LF, Gigantes del Cibao: 0-for-4, BB, 2 K. Hitting .250/.294/.313 in first four games of winter ball.
  • Jerad Head - LF, Gigantes de Carolina: 1-for-4, R, 2B, RBI. Only four games in, but hitting .231/.412/.385.
