Minor league camp is about to open with pitchers officially reporting this Thursday (March 5th) and the position players reporting on Saturday (March 7th).
Each full-season Indians minor league affiliate will play 14 games this year in spring training, with the opponents being the farm teams from the Rangers, Dodgers, White Sox, Brewers, and Padres. The Triple-A and Double-A teams (Columbus and Akron) will travel together, and the Single-A teams (Kinston and Lake County) will as well. The two groups will always be at opposite sites, so for example if Columbus/Akron are in Goodyear, then Kinston/Lake County will be on the road.
The makeup of each team should be an early indication of who is slated to go where when the season starts, especially as they get deeper into camp. Also, a camp day is a regular workout day with all teams/players in Goodyear with scrimmages in the early afternoon.
Those not scheduled to open on a full season team will be scrimmaging each other everyday at Goodyear on the days a game is scheduled for the other full season teams. The only exception being that they have four games scheduled against other teams on these dates:
