Scott Barnes - LHP, Akron: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 10 K
Akron's left-hander had the strikeout feel on Thursday night against Reading. He struck out seven in his first start of the season last week, but was much more efficient this time out, going seven innings and only allowing two base runners. Barnes struck out a team high 127 and is well on his way to leading the team again. Barnes now leads the Eastern League in strikeouts and is now 1-0 on the young season.
- Chad Huffman - LF/RF, Columbus: 2-for-4. 3 R, 2B, 2 BB, SB. Huffman was searching for his first hit going into the double header against Toledo. He had been getting on base via the walk and continued that. He may be hitting .095 but he's getting on base at a .300 clip.
- Jordan Brown, 1B/DH, Columbus: 1-for-3, 2 R, 4 BB. Jordan Brown didn't record an official at-bat in the second game, walking all three times. He entered the day with two total walks on the year.
- Luis Valbuena - SS, Columbus: 2-for-7, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 K. Luis Valbuena is swinging a respectable bat for the Clippers thus far. If Jason Donald ends up in Columbus, he could be at risk for a loss of playing time.
- Lonnie Chisenhall - 3B, Columbus: 1-for-7, R, 3 K. After putting up a great day in Tuesday's double header, Chisenhall didn't fare well in Thursday's, striking out three times and collecting just one hit.
- Zach Putnam - RP, Columbus: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K. The Michigan product picked up his second save of the season after going two scoreless. Both save's have come off two inning outings.
- Juan Diaz - SS, Akron: 1-for-5, R, 2 RBI, 3 K. Diaz continues to show his ability to strikeout, but he also continues to produce meaningful hits. Diaz is hitting .200 with nine strikeouts with four RBI.
- Jordan Henry - CF, Akron: 1-for-4, R, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 K. Henry has restarted his hit-streak after it came to an end against Altoona. He also doubled his strikeout total in just one game.
- John Drennen - DH, Akron: 2-for-4, 2B, RBI. Johnnie Drennen might be heating up. A day after he hit his first home run, he hit his first double.
- Eric Berger - RP, Akron: 2 IP, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K. Former starter Eric Berger is adjusting to his relief role quite well. Burger threw another two scoreless frames with a pair of strikeouts.
- Nick Bartolone - SS, Lake County: 2-for-4, 2 R, 2B, BB, SB. The skinny shortstop they call "Rango" hadn't knocked out a hit since the first game when he was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs.
- Carlos Moncrief - CF, Lake County: 1-for-2, 2 R, 2B, 2 BB. Moncrief found his way on base a season high three times against Dayton.
- Tyler Cannon - 3B, Lake County: 1-for-2, R, 2 RBI, BB. The everything man for the Captains has a six game hit streak and an RBI in every game he's had an at-bat in other than one.
- Jason Smit - RF, Lake County: 2-for-3, R, HR, 3 RBI, K. The red-hot Jason Smit hit his first home run of the season. He's hitting nearly .500 through the first eight games with five extra base hits.
- Alex Lavisky - C, Lake County: 0-for-4, 2 K. The young St. Ed's product continues to scuffle at the plate with two more strikeouts to his growing total of 12. He has three times as many strikeouts as hits.
- Kyle Blair - RHP, Lake County: 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 7 K. Although he gave up a few more runs, less walks and more strikeouts for Blair in his second outing.
- J.D. Reichenbach - RHP, Lake County: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K. Reichenbach's first scoreless relief appearance and also his longest.
