Around the Farm: April 15th

Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's game.

Anthony Gallas - LF, Lake County: 2-for-6, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, K, SB

The outfielder straight out of Cleveland is having a good season early on. He collected his fourth two-hit game of the season on Friday and knocked in his first two RBI of the year. He's shown ability on the basepaths, successfully stealing on all three of his attempts this year. Friday's game was his fourth straight game with a double and in all of his games with a hit, he's hit at least one. He leads the Midwest League in the doubles category, with three more than anyone else.

Alex White - RHP, Columbus: 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R (0ER), 0 BB, 7 K
Tough break for Alex White who saw two runs score unearned in the first two innings and then watched the bullpen blow his lead. One run reached base by error and another advanced after Luke Carlin's passed ball. After striking out the first two, White put a runner on and Carlin's passed ball advanced them before coming around to score. White is still searching for his first win, but put forth an effort worthy of it, striking out seven and not walking a hitter.

• Ezequiel Carrera - CF, Columbus: 2-for-4, R, SB. Speedy center fielder Zeke Carrera stole his third base of the season and is now hitting .313 on the year. He had been 1-for-15 coming into Friday's game after a hot start.
• Cord Phelps, SS, Columbus: 1-for-3, 2 RBI, BB. The super-utility man continues to be a run-producer for the Clippers, knocking in two runs to take the team RBI lead away from Lonnie Chisenhall with nine.
• Jason Kipnis - 2B, Columbus: 3-for-5, 2B, RBI, 2 K, 2 SB. The first multi-hit game for Jason Kipnis this year, but also the third multi-strikeout game of the young season for the second baseman who's hitting .250 now.
• Chad Huffman - LF, Columbus: 0-for-5, 3 K. A game after collecting his first two hits of the season, Huffman put up another 0-for, this time with three strikeouts. He now totals 11 on the season.
• Kyle Bellows - 3B, Akron: 2-for-4, 2B, RBI, CS. Bellows collected his first multi-hit game of the season and knocked in his second run. He should continue to get much more playing time at third with Jason Donald done rehabbing.
• Jordan Henry - CF, Akron: 1-for-3, R, BB, SB. Henry stole 15 bases for Akron last year and 29 overall. He's off to a great start with three successful steals in three attempts in eight games.
• Tim Fedroff - LF, Akron: 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI. The former Tar Heel hit his first home run of the season and has posted back-to-back multi-hit games with a RBI.
• Karexon Sanchez - 2B, Akron: 0-for-3, BB, 2K. The infielder for Akron received his sixth start of the season and is still searching for his first hit. His OBP stands at just .136 after his third walk of the season. He's struck out in every start this year.
• Bryan Price - RP, Akron: 2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 0 K. The sad part for a reliever is that one bad outing could skew your numbers for a good portion of the year. It will take Price some time to get out of the hole he's in after Friday's disaster. Price blew the save and lost the game all at once, giving up a pair of home runs in the seventh innings.
• Bo Greenwell - RF, Kinston: 2-for-4, R, 2B, RBI. Bo Greenwell has gone just one game without a hit and put in his fourth two-hit game in six tries. He's now knocked in all three of his runs in the past two games.
• Ron Rivas - 2B, Kinston: 0-for-4, 3 K. At least he's not botching every play in the infield, right? Rivas doubled his strikeout total on the season and put in his fourth 0-for in six games.
• J.T. Toole - 1B, Kinston: 2-for-4, R, K, SB. In just his fourth start, Justin Toole collected his second multi-hit game of the year and in a row. He struck out for the first time and stole his second base.
• T.J. McFarland - LHP, Kinston: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R (1ER), BB, 5 K. Another solid start for T.J. McFarland, unfortunately the pen would blow his lead. McFarland gave up just one earned run and walked his first hitterof the year.
• Jose Flores - RP, Kinston: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, BB, 2 K. After the spring in Mariners major league camp, Jose Flores has had a rough time since returning to the Indians organization. He struck out one hitter in his debut, but since has been roughed up for six runs in 2.1 innings of work.
• Carlos Moncrief - CF, Lake County: 3-for-5, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, K, SB. Moncfrief contributed in every way possible, scoring a run, knocking in a pair to up his season total to three, and stealing a base. He doubled twice, doubling his total on the year. 
• Gio Urshela - 3B, Lake County: 3-for-6, R, 2B. Urshela is red-hot right now, with his second straight three-hit game. He's now hitting .412 and has five multi-hit games.
• Jason Smit - RF, Lake County: 3-for-6, R, 2B, RBI, K.Smit is second in the Midwest League in batting average after yet another big game. Smit hasn't hit in two games, but in all games he has collected a hit, he's had more than one. He's also struck out in every game this year.
• Alex Lavisky - C, Lake County:1-for-5, 2B, RBI, BB, 3 K. The backstop continues his streak of multi-strikeouts in a game and has no struck out in every game minus the opener. His 15 strikeouts is most in the Midwest League.
• Argenis Martinez - 2B, Lake County: 1-for-3, 3 BB, K, 2 SB. Argenis Martinez stole his first two bases of the year after getting on four times, three via the walk.
• Tony Dischler - RHP, Lake County: 3.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R (3ER), 2 BB, 4 K. After relieving Cole Cook last time out, Dischler got the start this time out. Thankfully, he wasn't pounded quite like last time, but he gave up three earned in 3.2 and his ERA still went down.
• Cole Cook - RP, Lake County: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2ER), 0 BB, 3 K. After giving up three earned in his four inning start, Cook went five solid innings, giving up just two earned off six hits. Cook has not walked a hitter in nine innings this season.
• Nate Striz - RP, Lake County: .2 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 BB, K. Nate Striz took his first loss of the season after giving up his first runs of the season. Striz couldn't exit the inning, recording only two outs before giving up four earned off a homer and two hits.
