Around the Farm: April 21

Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's game.

Chad Huffman - 1B, Columbus: 4-5, 5 R, 3 HR, 9 RBI, BB.
The stats speak for itself; Huffman played out of his mind. Coming into Thursday's game, Huffman was hitting .195 and struggling offensively. It appears he broke out of his slump and while doing so, he raised his batting average all the way to .261 from just one game. He helped fuel the Clippers offense, driving in 9 of the 19 runs scored. I've been tough on Huffman in the past, so for me, it was an encouraging sign.

• Lonnie Chisenhall - 3B, Columbus: 2-5, 4 R, RBI. It's been somewhat of a rough start for "The Chiz", but a multi-hit game for him is a step in the right direction.
• Travis Buck - RF, Columbus: 4-6, R, 2 2B, 3 RBI. In just his second game with the Clippers since being demoted, Buck brought his bat to the ball yard and had a solid game.
• Jordan Brown - DH, Columbus: 2-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, RBI, BB, K. A multiple MVP winner in the minor leagues, Brown struggled in his time with Cleveland and continues to dominate minor league pitching.
• Tim Fedroff - LF, Akron: 2-4, R. I wrote about Fedroff and his consistent play yesterday. Today, he solidified that statement.
• John Drennan - RF, Akron: 2-4, 2B, RBI, K. A victim of a deep system, Drennan is trapped down the depth chart, once highly touted. It's a shame, still think the guy is a good player.
• Nick Hagadone - RP, Akron: 2 IP, H, BB, 4 K. Finally living up to his hype, Hagadone has been lights out this year in relief. He's making a case to be future closer or set up man of the Cleveland Indians. He's THAT good.
• Cory Burns - RP, Akron: IP, K. One of the most reliable bullpen arms in the Tribe's farm system, Burns picked up a save in Akron's win.
• Bo Greenwell - RF, Kinston: 3-5, R, RBI. Off to another hot start, Greenwell is notorious for coming out in April swinging his bat with fury. Hopefully this year, he can sustain that for the whole season.
• Abner Abreu - CF, Kinston: 2-5, R, 2B, 2 RBI. Still a raw player, Abreu has always had the potential. Abreu is still struggling with his strike outs early on this season.
• Clayton Cook - SP, Kinston: 6 IP, 3 H, ER/R, 2 BB, 5 K. Cook pitched a quality game for the K-Tribe, paving their way to victory.
• Toru Murata - RP, Kinston: 3 IP, 2 H, ER/R, BB, 6 K. I'd be lying if I said I knew much, if anything, about this guy. Murata did earn a three inning save, though!
• Jason Smit - RF, Lake County: 2-3, R, 2 RBI, BB, K. His hot bat at the plate continued and his average now sits at .434. Not too shabby, though it's early.
• Carlos Moncrief - CF, Lake County: 2-5, 2 R, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, 2 K. The past two days have really been something for Moncrief.
• Giovanny Urshela - 3B, Lake County: 3-5, 2 R. I'm going to start sounding like a broken record, but Urshela is molding himself into one hell of a player.
