31st round pick left-handed pitcher Michael Roth has all but said he is not signing with the Indians when he said “I don't see them paying me the money it would take for me to leave school.” He’s looking for a big offer to pass on his senior season at South Carolina and go for a three-peat, but it appears unlikely the Indians will give one to him. He returns from his work-study program in Spain on August 8th, so it will leave him and the Indians a week to work something out before the August 15th deadline. Not many 31st round picks get this kind of attention and he is clearly using the College World Series exposure to his advantage (and rightfully so). Considering he doesn't really possess any real weapons in his arsenal and the projection on him appears limited the odds of him getting what he wants appears extremely low.
I've heard that 36th round pick left-handed pitcher Abel Guerrero may be close to signing.
40th round pick shortstop Matt Eureste has officially committed to Texas Tech after his signed a financial aid agreement this week to join the program for the 2011-2012 season.
