Former Indians owner Dick Jacobs has passed away from a longtime illness at age 84. He owned the team from 1986 to 1999, and was instrumental in getting the Gateway Project passed which brought the Indians a new ballpark in Jacobs Field in 1994 and brought the Cavaliers back downtown for basketball later that same year. His teams from 1994-1999 enjoyed the greatest run of success in franchise history going to the playoffs five straight years and World Series twice (1995, 1997).
