2009 Indians 20th Round Pick: RHP Kyle Smith

In the 20th round, the Cleveland Indians select: RHP Kyle Smith - Kent State Universoty, 6'6".

(Yes, they took two Kyle Smith's today....the earlier one was a shortstop in the 14th round out of Cal Poly)

Kyle Smith is a right handed pitcher from Kent St. He is a big pitcher at 6’6”. Last year in the Cape he was consistently hitting 92 MPH, but this season his velocity was down in the high 80’s. There was some concern of injury, so he had an MRI in May on his right shoulder. The down velocity was enough to cause his stock to take a hit. There has been some thought he might move to the pen, so it will be interesting to see what the Indians plans are for him.
