Okay, before we get underway with the third and final day of the draft today I wanted to give a couple of updates.
First off, the Indians will have two rehab starts in the system tonight with RHP Jake Westbrook getting his second rehab start in Double-A Akron. He is expected to go four innings or an unspecified pitch count at the moment. Whichever comes first. After the outing, he is expected to go to Triple-A Columbus to continue his rehab where he will make at least another 2-3 starts with the hope he can get to 90-100 pitches before activated. The target date for his return is July 1st. The other rehab start that is happening tonight is LHP Scott Lewis getting a start at Low-A Lake County. He will pitch three innings, and it is good to see him on his way back.
Second, we will have 3rd round pick RHP Joe Gardner on Smoke Signals tonight. Also looks like 18th round pick catcher Dwight Childs may be a go as well. May also get one more draft pick on tonight. Anyway, for those new to the site and show, Smoke Signals is a weekly internet radio show that Paul Cousineau and myself do every Thursday from 9:30-10:30pm EST covering not only the big league team in Cleveland, but also the farm system as well. Just about every week we have a guest on, mostly players from the minors. The call in number is 646-716-8012 and our show e-mail is smokesignals@theclevelandfan.com. Here is the link to listen live:

Last, I have gotten word of a couple of guys from the draft who will be signing, though will await notification that it is okay to post the info publicly. Anyway, rounds 31-50 today, time to really mine the draft. Be sure to check back often today for updates on the new picks, not only the ones from today but the ones from Tuesday and Wednesday as well.
