Game Recaps: Monday 6/22

Kinston and Lake County are off for their All Star break, and Akron had a scheduled off day.

Mock blanks Clippers for Syracuse sweep

The Clippers were shutout 3-0 in the series finale at Syracuse.
Chiefs' righty Garrett Mock fired a complete game shutout, allowing only three hits. Columbus led off the night with a single from Andy Cannizaro, but Mock retired the next 21 batters. The Syracuse starter earned ten strikeouts without allowing a walk.

Cannizaro, Jordan Brown and Niuman Romero had the only Columbus hits. Two runners were erased on double plays and Romero was stranded to end the game.

The Clippers have scored only four runs in the last 28 innings of play.

Jack Cassel pitched well for the Clippers, allowing three runs (two earned) from nine hits in a complete game performance of his own.

The Clippers have lost six straight and 10 of the last 12 games.

Columbus visits Rochester to open a four-game series at Frontier Field n Tuesday. Lefty Zach Jackson will face Red Wings right-hander Anthony Swarzak.
