2009 Indians 25th Round Pick: RHP Jonathan Hauser

In the 25th round, the Cleveland Indians select: RHP Jonathan Hauser - Manchester High School (VA), 6'2", 04/14/1991.

UPDATE (6:11 PM EST): Jeff Ellis
Jonathan Hauser is a right handed prep pitcher from Virginia. He was the top rated prospect by Baseball America in the entire state of Virginia, but it should be noted it was a weak class with zero top 200 prospects. He is committed to Virginia Commonwealth. His best pitch is a fastball which sits in the low 90s but has reached up to 95 MPH. He has good arm speed and there is the potential for the fastball to become a plus plus pitch and pick up a few more MPH. His secondary pitches are not developed. He is well liked by the scouts and according to Baseball America one scout said he was in the Roy Oswalt mold. The Indians seem to be going for a bunch of harder to sign players now taking talent and hoping to be able to sign a few of them. I for one applaud the approach at this point in the draft, and who can blame them after it worked so well last year.
