Weglarz & Santana Named To Futures Game

Double-A Akron outfielder Nick Weglarz and catcher Carlos Santana have been selected to participate in the XM All-Star Futures Game set for Sunday, July 12th at 2:00 PM
ET.

Weglarz, who has hit two home runs and has seven RBI in his last two games, is hitting .261 (55-for-211) with 13 2B, 10 HR and 50 RBI in 66 games (.870OPS). He is tied for second in the Eastern League with 50 RBI and since May 1st he is hitting .323 (50-for-155) with 44RBI in 47 games.

Santana is hitting .263 (55-for-209) with a league high 46 runs scored, 16 2B, 11 HR and 46 RBI in 66 games. He is tied for 5th in HR, tied for 6th in RBI, 7th in OPS (.908) and 8th in on-base% (.401).

Columbus Manager Torey Lovullo has also been selected to be a coach on the US Team.

I find it interesting there's no Rondon, LaPorta, or Chisenhall.

What an amazing turnaround for Weglarz. Congrats to them both.

You can't have more than two players from any organisation.... that will go some way to explaining some of those omissions Zaj.

Also, I don't know for definate, but I'd be surprised if players could participate more than once..... both LaPorta and Rondon played in last years game.

And whaddya know, my #1 and #2 prospects coming into the year.:-)

DSLewis: I realize you can only have two. Weglarz comes as a surprise for me. I'm for Santana.. but.

And you can play more than once.
