2010 Instructional League Roster & Schedule

The 2010 Fall Instructional League gets underway out in Goodyear, Arizona on Wednesday September 15th. Over the course of a little over four weeks and in 14 actual games the Indians will have 50 players participate in the fall program which wraps up on Thursday October 14th.

Since so many players from the 2010 Draft signed late, it will be a time to help create some opportunities for pitchers like left-hander Drew Pomeranz, right-hander Kyle Blair, right-hander Cole Cook, and right-hander Tony Dischler to throw some innings against other minor league players. Or, for position players like outfielder LeVon Washington, shortstop Tony Wolters, catcher Alex Lavisky, and outfielder Mark Brown to get in some at bats they missed because they signed so late.

Some players are there to experiment with position changes, such as Hunter Jones who is listed as an outfielder. Some players are there to make up innings they missed due to injury, such as right-hander Jason Knapp. Some players are there because they are recent International signings the Indians plan to play stateside next season, such as outfielder Chia-Ching Lin. And some players are there to more familiarize themselves with a recent role change, such as left-hander Nick Hagadone who is still working through his transition to the bullpen.

In addition, the "Parallel League" will be back for a second season this year. Details regarding the schedule and who will play in the league are unknown at this time, but the league will be back this year.
