Around the farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's game.
Rob Bryson-SP, Akron: 3 2/3 IP, 2 H, ER, 5 K, BB.
Akron went with bullpen by committee to close out their season yesterday, and Bryson got the start and did a nice job. He finished with 80 K in 53 1/3 innings across three levels in 2010, having started in Lake County and working himself all the way up to Akron. Bryson pitched just 3 innings in the AZL last year, so to see him healthy and on the mound is great. To see him dominating while he's out there is even better. Bryson is just 22 years old, so he's right on schedule despite missing the season to injury. He has the stuff to get big league hitters out, and could be an option in the bullpen as early as next year. Whenever he makes it to Cleveland, he has the stuff to be a dominating arm in the back end of a bullpen.
- Corey Kluber-SP, Columbus: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 K, 4 BB. Kluber's 2nd start since being moved up to Columbus wasn't quite as good as his first, but wasn't terrible.
- Aaron Laffey-RP, Columbus: IP. Laffey's ERA for the Clippers is 3.67, with 12 K and 16 BB in 27 IP.
- Alex Kaminsky-RP, Akron: W, 3 IP, 2 H, 2 K, 2 BB. The UDFA came all the way up from Mahoning Valley, and recorded a win in his first AA appearance.
- Jason Kipnis-2B, Akron: 3-5, HR (10), 3 RBI, 2 R. Headed to the AFL on a high note.
- Lonnie Chisenhall-3B, Akron: 2-5, 3 RBI. Despite missing time due to injury, Chizz led the Aeros in RBI (84) and tied Matt McBride for the lead in HR with 17.
- Jordan Henry-OF, Akron: 2-4, BB, 2 R, SB, K. No home runs on the season, but he did post a .411 OBP and stole 29 bases.
- Kyle Bellows-3B, Kinston: 3-4, R. Solid day to close the regular season for Bellows, who pushed his average up to .253 on the year.
- Donnie Webb-OF, Kinston: 3-4, RBI, 2 R, K. Webb ends 2010 on a hot note, putting up a line of .353/.463/.529 in his last 10 games.
- Jeremie Tice-1B, Kinston: 2-5, 2B, RBI. The 23-year old 1B did a solid job for Kinston after getting the call from Lake County, finishing with a .797 OPS in the Carolina League.
- Jonathan Burnette-OF, Lake County: 2-3, 2B. The 18th round pick out of Georgia Tech with his first multi-hit game for the Caps.
- Adam Abraham-3B, Lake County: 2-4, 2 2B. After posting a sub-.500 OPS in April and May, Abraham got hot with the weather and finished the season at .760.
