In not much of a surprise announcement today, the Indians have optioned out right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to Triple-A Columbus. In doing so, they also named left-hander David Huff as the final starter in the opening day rotation. The 25-man roster - barring injuries - is now set for opening day this coming Monday.

Barring injury, here is the opening day roster:

BULLPEN: RHP Chris Perez, LHP Rafael Perez, LHP Aaron Laffey, RHP Jensen Lewis, LHP Tony Sipp, RHP Joe Smith, RHP Jamey Wright.
POSTION: CA Lou Marson, CA Mike Redmond, INF Asdrubal Cabrera, INF Mark Grudzielanek, DH Travis Hafner, INF Andy Marte, INF Jhonny Peralta, INF Luis Valbuena, OF Michael Brantley, OF Shin Soo Choo, OF Austin Kearns, OF/1B Matt LaPorta, OF Grady Sizemore.

In a related note, the Indians' Player Development is currently conducting meetings with minor league players who will be released today. I should have a list of names sometime later in the day. Also, roster assignments will be posted later today letting players know what affiliate they will open the season with. I will try and pass along that information too as I get it, though I may not be able to release this information right away.

ladies and gentleman, i present to you your 2nd to last place cleveland indians. remember our motto - we're not detroit!!!

Should be an interesting team and fun to watch develop this year. They have a lot of (untapped) talent that's for sure. Who knows, maybe they will sneak up on everyone (or blow chunks). Ah, the beauty of a new baseball season....literally anything can happen.
