In the 18th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected OF Chase Burnette out of Georgia Tech.
Height: 6'2" Weight: 195 DOB: 05/20/1988 Bats: Left Throws: Left
Scout's Take: "I really liked him this season. Wish I had gotten him in the draft."
Jeff Ellis: Jonathan Chase Burnette, or as he is typically known as Chase Burnette, is a player who looks like he could contribute to the majors some day most likely as a 4th outfielder. He has average bat and power skills, but his defense and speed are below average. This will cause a problem down the road as the Tribe has been switching to a bigger emphasis on both speed and defense. Still the kid can hit and has hit in the ACC the last two years showing both good average and power along with a solid arm. This season though his defensive issues led him to serve as mostly a DH for the Yellow jackets. He actually reminds me a bit of a pick from last year in Ben Carlson, a player he could quickly be battling for AB’s next year in this system.
Signing Update (6/14): Burnette has officially signed with the Indians.

just a couple of quick comments ...
Chase played at the Georgia Institutue of Technology or "Georgia Tech" as it is more commonly referred to.
Chase hit 17 homers, 4 triples and 19 doubles. He also had 63 rbis.
Chase started in RF all 62 games this season. He was the DH last year. He had two errors on the year and 4 assists.
His speed is average or better.
I think the Indians got a a steal in Burnette.
Nice catch on the errors....getting these things out so quick some things slip through the cracks. Have corrected and updated.
Looking forward to seeing what Burnette does and if he signs with the Indians. Lord know the Indians need some hitting.
