In the 29th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected LHP Kirby Bellow out of Nederland High School (TX).
Height: 6'1" Weight: 190 DOB: 11/14/1991 Bats: Left Throws: Left
Jeff Ellis: Kirby Bellow I think might be a near impossible sign because he is a solid hitter on top of being a good high school pitching prospect. He doesn’t throw very hard as his fastball sits in the 84-88 range but it is expected to jump up. His curveball is his most effective pitch thanks to its crisp break. He is committed to the University of Texas and you might have heard about how he threw back to back no hitters this year. Bellow wasn’t able to be at full strength this year as he was also the quarterback on his football team and he suffered a partial tear of his right ACL in the football season opener. Bellow is a big talent that there is little doubt as Texas doesn’t sign anyone but the best. I just wonder if the Indians are going to be able to sign any of these major prep talents this late.
