In the 25th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected RHP Jay Gause out of West Brunswick High School (NC).
Height: 6'2" Weight: 215 DOB: 04/24/1992 Bats: Right Throws: Right
Signing Update (6/11): Gause is committed to North Carolina State next year to play baseball. According to a report from a local TV station in his area, while he is leaning toward attending school he is also seriously considering going pro. An article on Gause published over the weekend in the Star News says that he will be looking for a $750K signing bonus.
Jeff Ellis: Jay Gause is a power armed reliever type, which is rare to see in a kid straight out of high school. He has nice size and build to add more speed to his low 90’s fastball. He has gotten by almost exclusively on that fastball, so his secondary pitches are very raw. He has a commitment to NC State, which at this point might be hard to get him out of. Glause was expecting to go somewhere between rounds 3 and 10 and to be selected in round 24 might be something that might push him to go to college where he could build up his arm and go much higher in three more years.
