Five Captains Named To Midwest League All Star Team

The Midwest League has announced their mid season All Star teams and the Lake County Captains have five representatives on the Eastern Division squad. Pitchers Trey Haley and Nick Sarianides will be joined by catchers Roberto Perez and Chun Chen as well as well as outfielder Bo Greenwell at the All Star game in Fort Wayne, IN on June 22.

Haley (4-1, 3.73), a 19 year old right hander out of San Augustine, TX leads the team in starter wins. The Captains are 11-1 when Haley starts. He was the Indians 2nd round pick in 2008.

Sarianides (5-1, 3.77), is a 20 year old right hander from Fortson, GA has struck out 17 batters and walked only three in his last 10 outings.

Perez is a 20 year old catcher from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico who is 2nd in the Midwest League in throwing out would be base stealers with a 55% success rate.

Chen, 21 years old from Hualian County, Taiwan, will be the starting designated hitter who also catches for the Captains. He is batting .349 on the season which ranks him 4th in the league, is 2nd in the MWL league with 18 doubles and is 2nd is slugging percentage (.586).

Greenwell, a 21 year old from Alva, FL, will start in the outfield for the Eastern squad. He has been in the top ten in hitting the entire season. He currently ranks 7th in hitting (.318), 2nd in runs scored (41), and 5th in plate appearance to strike out ratio (8.74).

Last season the Captains sent only two players to the South Atlantic League All Star game with second baseman Karexon Sanchez garnering the games MVP award.
