In the 30th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected RHP Taylor Hill out of Vanderbilt University.
Height: 6'3" Weight: 185 DOB: 03/12/1989 Bats: Right Throws: Right
Rank:
PGCrosschecker: 193
Scout's Take: "He is a good sinker ball pitcher from the SEC who tops out at 91 MPH. He has to have his sinker working to have success, if not he will get hit hard. He is a very good pick for were he was taken if he can be signed."
Jeff Ellis: Taylor Hill is the definition of a team player he has pitched all over in the pen and as a starter. He seems destined for the pen where he excelled a year ago in the Cape. He has done well this year as a starter, but the previous two years had been solid but unimpressive. Hill has 2 plus pitches with a fastball that has good sink (I know you’re shocked) that is in the low 90’s. This pitch is offset by his low 80’s slider which also grades out as plus. He has a changeup in the high 70’s, but it is his weakest pitch by far. His mechanics need cleaned up, but he has the big body and durability you would want in a pitcher. He was rated as a Top 200 player by PGCrosschecker, so that is very good for a guy taken almost 1000 players in.
This is why I love this draft this year. Outside of maybe 5 guys the Indians took upside players on almost every pick as they took prep players and college sophomores. They really went out of their way to take risks and it will be hard to give them a grade till we see who they actually manage to sign.
On a sidenote, thanks to anyone who read though all 30 reports today. I won’t be able to post tomorrow, but I hope you enjoyed and got the information you wanted from these reports today.

Thanks for all the posts, sounds like a very exciting draft.
Kudos to Jeff for being my wing man all day. And many thanks to the other contributors Andrew, Jim, and Charlie.
I am loving stuff. As you all can probably tell.
