The Scrapperbook: Week One

For most players on the Scrappers roster, this was their first week of playing professional baseball and the team as a whole has struggled. After taking two out of three from Jamestown to start the season, Mahoning Valley has now lost their last four games.

"It's really difficult to throw quality pitches, especially early in the year," said Scrappers manager Travis Fryman. "Most of your college guys haven't thrown in several weeks and you can't put them out there very much."

Fryman adds, "Hitters definitely have a little advantage."

However, hitters have their own adjustments to make, most of them switching from aluminum bats to wood.

"It's definitely an adjustment," Chase Burnette remarked. "It's a hard one to make. I think a lot of guys on our team right now are working on trying to make that adjustment."

"We got a lot of young guys, a lot of guys straight out of college. It's tough because we're not hitting the way we want to hit, but it's going to come," Fryman assured.

With that, let's take a look at how the Scrappers through week one.
