2010 Indians 24th Round Pick: RHP Andrew Triggs

In the 24th round of the 2010 Draft, the Indians have selected RHP Andrew Triggs out of the University of Southern California.

Height: 6'4" Weight: 210 DOB: 03/16/1989 Bats: Right Throws: Right

Jeff Ellis: Andrew Triggs fits so much of what we have seen the Indians draft. He has a good sinking fastball, it sits 94-95, he has had Tommy John Surgery, and he is only a sophomore. Another trend to note is the number of players drafted who seem to have the potential to throw a plus slider, which Triggs also has. Triggs was at one point ranked the 38th best prospect by Baseball America. So what is the reason for the drop? He has had some shoulder inflammation and after the TJ surgery his senior year that is something that has scared off teams. He is a very interesting player this late, and his sinker is the best we have drafted yet. His sinker has been compared favorably to a Brandon Webb. I know the Indians have neither the money nor the space to sign all their picks, but I do hope we sign Triggs. He has a very interesting arm and 2 plus pitches, which would lead me to believe he could end up in the majors some day for the Tribe.
