Kyle Smith has been the starting SS for Cal Poly since he was a true freshman. He has shown solid defense there his first two years, but it wasn’t until his junior year where his bat started to generated attention. He made the Brooks Wallace watch list for the top college SS this year, due to his defense and bat. His average jumped almost 80 points above his career average. While his hall mark seems to be defense, his bat might be a late blooming tool.
