In the 12th round, the Cleveland Indians select: RHP Joseph Colon - Huertas Junior college 6'2" 200 lbs. 6'0" 167lbs
UPDATE (2:08 PM EST): Jeff Ellis
Joseph Colon was undrafted last year as a third baseman out of Puerto Rico. Baseball America rated him the 9th best prospect in Puerto Rico. He switched to the mound and it turned out he had a low 90’s fastball. The Cubs signed him in January, but the deal was void because he had enrolled at Huertas Junior college even though they don’t have a baseball team. He is about as raw as you can get with a pitcher. He has no breaking pitches and a curve that looks like it should develop into a good pitch. His fastball has nice sink to it and should gain more MPH as his mechanics are refined and he is coached up. An interesting prospect, but along the definition of a project.
