Around the Farm: December 12

(Photo: MiLB)
Here is a quick recap of how the players in the Cleveland Indians' system did in fall/winter league action on Sunday December 12th:
  • Jerad Head - PH-1B, LBPPR All-Stars: 0-for-2. The Puerto Rico Winter League had their All Star game on Sunday and Head was the only Indians participant. He came into the game half way through as he split time at first base with fellow All-Star Javier Valentin.
  • Asdrubal Cabrera - SS, Leones del Caracas: 1-for-5, 2 K. Cabrera is going through a little bit of a funk as in his last three games he is just 2-for-15 with 4 Ks. In 15 games covering 61 at bats he has just 3 extra base hits and a 5-12 walk to strikeout ratio.
  • Luis Valbuena - 2B, Cardenales de Lara: 2-for-6, R, RBI, BB, K. Valbuena continues to have a solid winter ball performance. He got off to a horrific start but has been solid since the first two weeks of the season. In his last ten games he is hitting .310/.462/.552 and still has an exceptional 30-22 walk to strikeout rate.
